Grasshopper

algorithmic modeling for Rhino

Hello all. I am having difficulty opening some definitions, and I have no idea why. After viewing the error message, the canvas is blank! I can't make sense out of the error messages I get. I am trying to open some definitions from the LIFT architects primer.

Anyone know what I am doing wrong?

Attachments below are:
1. definition I am opening
2. pop-up window error
3. error log

I think it might be that the definitions have been made in a prior version of GH and that causes problems because GH is evolving so rapidly.
"Grasshopper files are not necessarily forwards compatible and this file might not deserialize correctly"

Probably with some components that leads to errors. Most of the time an explanation or a picture of the definitions is available with the definition itself even more so if they are from a tutorial. I think that if your intent is learning from those definitions it might not be a bad idea to try to recreate the definition by yourself.
thank you Filigran. That makes sense. I will try re-creating the definition myself since that will be the best way to learn.
Hi Taylour

i opened the definition and had no problem with it
have you updated your grasshopper to 0.6.0012 ?

best

That's exactly the issue. The version of GH on the computer is 0.5.099 and the version of the file is from 0.6.006 or something like that. Upgrading is essential.
yeah damien is right
i didn't read the grasshopper-error.pdf
their you can see your version is 0.5.099 - file version 0.6.006

rookie mistake! I am going to need a lot of practice with Grasshopper, thank you so much for your help.
I'm no rookie and I just had the same issue.

Admin: please note that 0.5.099 is in fact the "current build" that comes up when you go to the download link from this site's header. This could cause some confusion
