web or bone structure?

I am trying to create a bone or web structure like the picture above. I began with a cellular automata script component that I found, and I am modifying it. What I'd like to do is connect all of the corner points of an array of boxes that the cellular automata component is generating, and somehow pipe and smooth the connecting lines to begin to…

Med Mart 3: Solaaaatubes!

We're taking a short break from unpacking the design process for the Cleveland Medical Mart facade and have a new post focusing on the lighting studies we did for the central atrium.  Radiance, Grasshopper, and Exposure (3DSMAX) were all used to design and test various skylight configurations.  Rather than using a handful of huge skylights there…

Med Mart 2: Panel Texture and Geometry

The last post we shared look at how we used Grasshopper to layout panels for the facade of the Cleveland Medical Mart.  This post looks at the geometry and texture of those panels.  The beauty of using Grasshopper was that we were able to explore lots of iterations, almost too many.  The interesting thing this does is to initially focus the design discussions on…

Alternate Interface: Control Grasshopper from iPod

Current exploration into alternative interfaces for presenting and interacting with associative models. Here we see two examples of communication from an iPod Touch 2g to McNeel’s Grasshopper plug-in for Rhino. This is made possible by Open Sound Control (OSC) and the User Datagram Protocol (UDP). In these examples, a Processing interface was utilized to show what was going on with the iPod during the screencapture. In Processing, Stephane Cousot’s UDP library was used, as well as Andreas… Continue
