Grasshopper

algorithmic modeling for Rhino

Hi guys,
Would there be a way to download an earlier version of Grasshopper which was compatible with python script ?
I think GH 0.5.0033 was.
Many thanks,
Arthur

There was never an 'official' Grasshopper version which supported python. David asked if anyone with python skills was interested, and maybe he extended this to a few people, but it was never officially out there to DL.
Thanks Luis,
Sorry i m posting so many questions, I m getting very excited about grasshopper and discovering many things at once :)
I found a definition for adaptive subdivision but it uses python which i really had never heard of before.
Not a problem to ask as long as the questions are clear ... which yours definitely seem to be! Lets see if python makes it back through ironpython in another GH release...
Being able to download the older version would be a double edged sword. Yes, Python would be in there, but there'd be a whole list of things (like data trees) that wouldn't be. Not to mention that there was practically no testing done on the Python side what-so-ever, so there's likely to be quite a number of bugs too.

At this point, I'd recommend being more patient. With Python being added to v5 I think that its only a mater of time before grasshopper gets it in some form or another. There have been a number of requests for python, so I doubt David or Steve would just say "tough luck", but I think Python just needs to get a foothold in Rhino first before it can move into Grasshopper.
Hi Damien,

Any idea of how much time until v5 is here? I want python in rhino... :)

Cheers
Well, V5 is here...WIP (beta) builds have been able to be downloaded for since about April. The python stuff is in there, but its not complete and it doesn't really have a real "identity" yet. Currently its just mimicking Rhinoscript, but by the time its finished it should contain all of the dotNET SDK as well.

If you want to know when V5 is going to be released, I certainly don't know when that's going to happen, and no one probably does at this point. I will say that judging from McNeel's past development, v5 should take about 14-18 months once a public beta is out there. Its been about 3 months already, so anywhere from a year from now to Christmas 2010. Those aren't hard dates, just guesses, so don't quote me on that.
Hmm... a loooooong time.

Thanks Damien.
Hi Jose,

We've got Python working in Rhino5. There was an issue with the old python implementation which caused it to disregard const/non-const information on OpenNurbs classes, causing it to crash unpredictably.

Rhino5 will ship with a new (in parallel with the old) DotNET SDK which no longer has this property. Grasshopper is now moving over to that new SDK and we will be including intermediate builds of RhinoCommon (as it's called) with Grasshopper installers. This will essentially allow us to run Python on Rhino4 via Grasshopper.

However, this new SDK is far from finished, it will be months before it reaches a somewhat useful state.

I'm really happy that ironpython has been implemented in Rhino 5, and also I'm looking forward to get the possibility to work with python within the grasshopper environment. This will be a very valuable combination for me.

Keep up the good work!

Paal
You can have python with rhino via win32com module, but its not really confortable i think.

Then i found some python wrapper for opennurbs, but again its for scripting outside of Rhino.[however this wrapper helped me to make openstreetmap-to-Rhino exporter in python]
edit: not 'some python wrapper' but pyOpenNurbs by Steve Baer

back to initial question:
"Would there be a way to download an earlier version of Grasshopper"
I would like to have Grasshopper 0.6.0019
I use remote control panel.
