jon i export rac_basic_sample_project.rvt ( one of sample project) to IFC2x3 and i saw this

Comment by Jon Mirtschin on June 10, 2013 at 4:29am

My plugin can use IFC2x3 and IFC4.  Many software generates "bloated" IFC files for "coordination" with polysurface representations (like a mesh) that Rhino isn't optimized for.  Can you post example file and description to this discussion (or email/skype me)? http://www.grasshopper3d.com/group/geometrygym/forum/topics/ifc-ind...

so what type of IFC file work with plug-in ? 2*3 and 2*2 doesn't work fine

Comment by Jon Mirtschin on June 10, 2013 at 3:45am

Hi Mehdi,

Not directly yet.  Most software companies are saying it will take them a year or two to implement IFC4.  What do you want to import IFC4 into?  I could provide a converter (but it won't necessarily take advantage of the improvements).

I am planning on developing my own exporter for Revit, but it's a low priority (most of the workflows at present are GH/?? into Revit.

Cheers,  Jon

jon,is there a way to export revit files to IFC4?

test.gh

Your first example there is 2 sectioned spine components.  The other one produces a better result.  Refer attached.

For the second file, you are using the "Surface" component, if you use Extruded area solid you will get the caps.

test2.gh

I think it's better to put the questions into a discussion thread.
