"Wouter, Are you by any chance Dutch? (I'd say so judging by your name). If you are a student at the Eindhoven university of technology, there is a license for GSA. I'm not sure about Delft, but I can't imagine them not having a…"

Galapagos Simulated Annealing cooling problem

Hi everyone,I have a question about the Simulated Annealing Solver. In my model, it sometimes happens the calculated result is 'useless' (to me anyway). Unfortunately, Galapagos still regards the output as valid, and subsequently cools the temperature. So what I would like to know if there is any way of telling Galapagos NOT to use certain data. I've tried feeding it empty lists when a result is not useful, but this results in an error.Any ideas anyone?See More

"Do you want to do a check on the structure as well? In that case I would suggest building a model that can be exported to analysis software. Jon makes plug-ins with which this is possible. On the other hand, the input for I beam section type will…"

Application of SSI for GSA

Hi everyone,This week I made a short film about my thesis work, which includes the use of Smart Structural Interpreter, as well as Galapagos.I've uploaded it here because it depicts the usefulness of parametric designing in structural engineering. If you have any questions, please post them here or send me an emailSee More

David Rutten replied to Michael van Telgen's discussion Some basic Galagos questions
"Hi Michael, I don't know. It's odd. How the sliders affect the solution is pure Grasshopper, Galapagos should not interfere with this at all. Maybe I misunderstood what exactly the problem is. Perhaps a video is a good idea. This can be…"

Some basic Galagos questions

Hello everyone,I have some simple questions, which I hope someone can answer.I am experimenting with the Galapagos evolutionary solver for my master's thesis. I've set up a model which is able to send and retrieve data to and from a structural analysis program (so that I have calculation data). One specific result from that calculation data is used for determining the fitness of my model. My questions:When using the two different solvers (the evolutionary solver and the simulated annealing…See More

Jon Mirtschin replied to Michael van Telgen's discussion SSI for GSA and Galapagos error in the group Geometry Gym
"Possibly I should override this option if I can detect Galapagos is running, I'll ask David next time I chat with him. I also on some models start to get NAN results after a few generations, I'll see if we can resolve this issue too."
