Object sizes changes with curvature of surfaces?

Hi I have a surface that i would like to add paneling upon, I want to make the sizes of the paneling to vary depending on how much the surface is curving. e.g. if the part of the surface is bending a lot, then paneling along that part of the surface will be bigger than compared to flatter surface panelings.

Is this logic achievable in GH?

Please Help!

Sure is. There are some examples hidden in the tutorials section. You can search this forum for "paneling" and "surface curvature" to find threads that should help you find an answer to your problem.

sorry i could not find any pages thats helpful to my problem... Are you able to point me to the right direction? Thanks

this can be achieved using paneling tools, a plug in for Rhino, not part of grasshopper. You would use this plug in together with the record history using an attractor point, this way when you move your attractor point the patterns on your surface will change

thank you for your reply, i was wondering if this method allows the idea of

have a diagrid on a surface, and by using an attractor causes specific triangles within the diagrid to increase or decrease in size which will in turn affect the neighboring triangle sizes in order for the system to stay attached and un-overlapped.

is there a tutorial on this?

Thanks

heres one of mine with height and width of cones, change it to control a diagrid. http://formularch.blogspot.com/2012/04/gh-curvature-cones.html

Hi thank you so much! i am having trouble reading one of the components in the definition, its labeled pCon with p input and cv and ce as output. can you please tell me where i can get that component please? its within cone widths group

Thanks

Hi i found that component but i could not get the same result as you, i dont know why. Please help.

c of pline must be true, u and v of meshuv must both be 1

i edited it here

thank you, but its still not producing a smooth surface for me, its still 4 pieces.. Are you able to email me the definition please? or upload it?

check all your grafts / flattens as well. I dont have the actual definition just those posts but it works for me and others who have tried. If your surfaces are seperate then it meas either you dont have polyline input set to true or your loft setting is set to align sections. if so turn it off.

Hey Michael,

Thanks for your curvature cones tutorial.. its really helpful.

I have a bit of a problem with the loft command.. have re-checked everything and also as you said the polyline input is true and alight sections is off..

(my post) http://www.grasshopper3d.com/forum/topics/curvature-cones

any ideas?

would be greatly appreciated.
