Grasshopper

algorithmic modeling for Rhino

Hi,

when I use the grasshopper panel to change a slider, I often have the probelm, of setting the right value. (I try to set it to 0.5 but it becomes 0.4954 or 0.5195)

I tried of setting the values of these sliders directly by the keyboard, which works fine inside grasshopper, but not inside the grasshopper panel. (At least I couldn't find out how. - I hope I'm not embarassing my self here.)

I have no clue how much work it would be to implement that into one of the future releases to be able to set a slider value by keyboard but I think it would make it much easier to work with the grasshopper panel.

What do you think?

Hi Martin,

the Remote Panel is currently under re-development. I'm rewriting it from the ground up. I'll be sure to add the ability to change the values using keyboard input this time.

hi david,
i m happy the remote panel is going to be totally rewritten... could it be possible to add an option to sort the sliders by name or by position on the canvas (for example by their location on the x axis)?
thanx
take care
It would also be nice to be able to enable/disable sliders from being shown in the remote panel. A definition may have a dozen sliders in it, yet there may only be the desire to adjust one or two of then. Hiding the "extra" ones can help reduce some clutter in the remote panel.

It also might be nice to have access to the timers through the remote panel.

Thanks
Will do.

Does anyone else think it could be a good idea to have a Bake previewed objects button on the remote panel?

So it bakes only the objects that have been set visible in Grasshopper. Typically whoever is playing with the slide-bar would most of the time want to bake what he has just tweaked in my experience, plus that person might not always be educated in grasshopper and you would have intentionally saved the file in such a way that only what needs to be baked is previewed.

Sorry David, I see there are a lot of requests already, don't mean to make your life more difficult.

That is sadly impossible.

Many people have asked for a bake button on the remote panel. It's one of those things I could have added in 5 minutes but somehow always forgot...

Actually David, something I thought I should just add. I thought something to keep in mind in general when thinking of things to add on the new remote panel is that a large percentage of people who will be using the panel might not know grasshopper and will maybe be intermediate rhino users. I am just thinking of a typical scenario where you would send something to a client, the client will only want to play with the panel maybe, and want as much control as possible at the same time.

Just a thought. Once again, sorry for the extra.
