Grasshopper

algorithmic modeling for Rhino

After creating a definition in Grasshopper, how do you get the definition to stay on the screen once it is closed? In monkey you run the script and it is there. I need help I am new to grasshopper. I also need the old paneling tools the set that will work with Rhino SR5 I do not have SR5b and I can not get it. Please help

From paneling tools page:
the latest build of PanelingTools Plug-in (June 8, 2009), toolbars and syntaxml for scripting. Runs with Rhino 4.0 SR5

So it should work with SR5

How do you get it to stay on the screen once its closed? Are you closing it or opening it? If you double click the main title bar, GH shrinks to the title bar. If you minimize, it minimizes like monkey. If you close it, run 'Grasshopper' again.
I am closing Grasshopper and what is on my screen disappears. How do I make it stay once grasshopper is closed? I thought the same thing about loading the paneling tools but when I go to install the plugin it says I need to download the latest service package, and I can not just drag and drop the paneling tools into an open session of Rhino like the directions say to do. I am working on a pc don't know if that maters?
If you close Grasshopper, yes, the GH geometry will disapear. You either need to minimize GH or double click on the title bar. This way GH is still open, but you will not see the canvas.

I am not sure about Paneling tools, maybe it only works now with SR5b...but this is the version I have, so I cannot verify. Why don't you just upgrade your Rhino version?
Is there a way of exporting the geometry created by grasshopper? I think this is an area that needs to be worked out than. It would be nice to be able to create a geometry in grasshopper and than be able to manipulate it on the screen once GH is closed.
x...have you tried the Bake button? It looks like a fried egg? This creates the geometry in Rhino. You can continue to manipulate it in Rhino, but it will loose all associativity.
Thank you! Like I said in my first post I am new to GH. I know I just looked like and idiot but thanks. I am working through the tutorial video's online. I pushed that button once before but I must of had it in wire frame cause I remember seeing the black lines and wandering why it didn't leave the surface.

Now I just have to figure out what is going on with my Paneling tools and I will have it. In the directions to install the Paneling tools it says to drag and drop the certain files into and open session of Rhino but that is not working for me. Do you know if that only works with mac's?
x, we are all beginners at some point. Don't sweat it! The good things is that there are many people in the same boat...in a bit, you will start to help others as well!

As for drag and dropping...on a pc, you can drag and drop an rhp (plugin) file without a problem. As for Macs, vb.net plugins will not work on Mac for OSX, I am not sure if C++ plugins go in directly to the latest OSX versions. Rhino on Mac running windows should work the same as PC, meaning, drag and drop is fine.
than I don't know why can not drag and drop unless I need the latest SR5b which I don't have yet?
