problems with color attractor by ted ngai...

Hello my friends.

I am new to the wonderful world of grasshopper. I am working on my thesis Masters of Architecture at the University of Toronto. I am currently working on ted ngai's amazing multipoint attractor to apply colour to a surface using mesh (http://www.tedngai.net/experiments/multipoint-attractor-on-mesh.html) and I am eventually hoping to use that to populate the…

Generating Isopotential Maps

The experiment investigates generative processes for Isopotential Maps.

Considering a surface as input (it will be assumed as basic field) and a series of "n" attractors the GH definition will individuate a series of curves which describe the field of forces operating on the area.

The definition, developed in cooperation with Andrea Graziano, allows to manipulate "n" attractors as a sort of electric charges. You can decide the charge's value (positive or negative) and… Continue

Inspiration - Grasshopper as information tool

a very cool site of visualized information and images:

Visual Complexity

visualcomplexity.com

In terms of 'scripting' programs used, processing seems to be popular for these types of visualizations. But I think grasshopper would be a more accurate and methodological process of achieving these types of images?!

Any thoughts or examples?

Bake and illustrate!… Continue

Normal Flipping in Grasshopper

Hi Folks,

I've been having some problems with a valid closed polysurface that has all surface normals oriented correctly in Rhino (used the Direction command). However, when I work with it in Grasshopper, it appears that half of the surfaces are now flipped (normals now pointing to the inside of the polysurface). I've tried to use a guide surface, I tried offsetting points along the normal to test for inclusion and then flip. I've even tried to flip normals manually by mutliplying… Continue

Alternate Interface: Control Grasshopper from iPod

Current exploration into alternative interfaces for presenting and interacting with associative models. Here we see two examples of communication from an iPod Touch 2g to McNeel’s Grasshopper plug-in for Rhino. This is made possible by Open Sound Control (OSC) and the User Datagram Protocol (UDP). In these examples, a Processing interface was utilized to show what was going on with the iPod during the screencapture. In Processing, Stephane Cousot’s UDP library was used, as well as Andreas… Continue
