Hi,

I dont't have the time to make anything in GH at the moment, but I think you can find what you need here:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Trefoil_knot

Physical object:

http://www.popmath.org.uk/sculpture/pages/bangor.html#Immortality

Or just google "Trefoil knot" with or without "Möbius strip"

thank ill try out

edit:

i just see that the trefoil knot isnt the figure im aiming for.

my figure can be made ou of a closed curve by twisting, i think that wouldnt work with the trefoil knot...

hi chris ,

not as dangerous but its the same im twisting only once

Hi Pyrit, is this what you mean? (it might be a bit over engineered though...)

hey pieter,

thanks a lot for your def. the thing is if you bend it it wont be planar as in your def.

but a good way to approach it i think ... even if i dont understand why you did it project and that stuff ... couldnt you have just mirrored two circles - then split - then join ?

thanx !

meanwhile my poor try...

Gern gemacht, and you're right, like I said it was pretty over engineered. I guess it's because I used this in the past in rhino for a ring design. I though the overall form was supposed to be fitting around a tube (or finger in my case), that's why I did it like this. Anyway, did it help you, or shouldn't this be planar. Maybe I can find some more time in the weekend to look into this.
I'm away from a computer but it sounds like you are attempting a moebius form?
