Count number of intersections on multiple curves

I'm trying to test a methodology for assessing spatial "values" in an urban setting.  The first step involves finding out how many intersections occur along a given street.(Ultimately, within a…Continue

Great article in the May/June addition of GreenSource Magazine.  Grasshopper gets some well deserved representation and even a brief interview with our own Andrew Payne!Congrats to all the McNeel…Continue

Human ergonomic simulation? options?

has anyone done any work using grasshopper for studying ergonomics?I was wondering if anyone knew of any possibilities to simulate a human form interacting with an object, (Physical ergonomics).  Particularly, the idea of using grasshopper/kangaroo to possibly develop some "sketch" level ergonomic studies.  I understand that ergonomics is not a simple concept, but I am curious if anyone has explored this before.I just started thinking about the idea but any input or points in the right…See More

Chris Hanley replied to Marc's discussion Making irregular pyramids out of the faces of a dia-grid?
"well, each one is a 3 point surface, (which you can generate with a 4 pt srf component, just use a,b,c). two of the points are fixed.  the "sliding" point, would be a point along the desired opening edge.... maybe something like…"

"As a sketch exercise, this was interesting.  If it was for production, I would have started with LunchBox or paneling tools, (both of which I would encourage you to explore). Attached is an example using only native GH components.  The…"

Chris Hanley replied to DIMITRIS VENIZELOS's discussion Grid from Curves
"one approach may be to look at paneling tools.  that would allow you to create a grid of points from intersecting lines. in rhino: Paneling tools->create paneling grid->intersect grid of curves.  select all the curves in one…"

Chris Hanley replied to RWNB's discussion create porous structure
"EDIT: i don't think that using the area of the surface, in this case, will give you the results you want.  Surfaces with the same area doesn't mean that they will always have the same shape. Perhaps a better approach to isolating the…"

"a slightly different approach.  This sorts the surfaces first.  Then you could create openings as  was previously suggested. "

"if you are studying connectivity, you may also want to check out a great plugin called spiderweb.  we have used it in some urban analysis studies and it's quite handy. http://www.grasshopper3d.com/group/spiderweb"
