Great job,

Dicky could you please share the GH definition?

Thanks

Hi guys,
Dicky - very nice work!I too would be very interrested to see a galapagos feedback loop working on the physical model, as Andy suggested.Has either of you maybe figured out how to deal with the delay problem?Actually we've tried to test the problem on a very simplified case with Tomek Gancarczyk today. Discussion thread here. Please comment if you have any ideas on how to approach this issue.
Thanks.
JJ

Hi Andy,

Thanks.. and thanks alot also for the firefly plug in, it's a very nice plug in.. Yes, It's a very interesting idea to connect the genome slider from galapagos to the Digital PWM output of the arduino. The problem is the slider controlled by galapagos jump very quickly from one number to another causing huge lag between the 3d model and the physical model and also most of the time, the program crash.

It would probably work if somehow we can add "delay" (even just very slightly 0.5 second maybe) to galapagos so it can give enough time for the servo motor to rotate and adjust the position of the membrane anchor points. However, when I saw your firefly video, it seems the servo motor can respond very quickly, have you tried to connect to galapagos?

Another idea I'm working on now, is to write my own genetic algorithm script in processing and send the data from processing to grasshopper/rhino via gHowl for visualization, although it's probably more efficient to just visualize everything it in processing.

Anyway, thanks man... please send me message if you have any other ideas, i would really appreciate it...

Hi Dicky,

Really interesting project... Have you thought about hooking up your physical model to the same sliders being driven from Galapagos?  It would be really interesting to see the model update in real-time to this optimization process.  Of course, then you could also verify your digital results with direct measurement from the physical model and see if the optimization worked as you suggest.  Either way, very nice work.  Congrats.
