algorithmic modeling for Rhino

Used only for visualization... the sail geometry is not accurate, its eyeballed. :D

I was just reading about this in Fabio Fossati's book on aero/hydro dynamics.

each sail is trimmed so different

That is because each sail effects the others. Which is why a una rig cannot sheet its mainsail on the centerline without stalling out but a sloop yacht can, due to the "bending" of the angle of incidence as the air flows around the headsail.

But the perfect set up will always be the perfect set up a given direction

yes, i could have gotten very ambitious with this, starting with expanding my understanding of kangaroo. I think danny's idea would be very quick to implement, and I may still do that. I decided manually position everything because in my observations, each sail is trimmed so different that I couldn't apply a one size fits all script. I was using lots of photgraphs to find appropriate looking angles. My foil shapes are less than impressive as well, but for the rendering... it looked alright. Thanks for the comments.

Hi Will,

Very nice! You should consider having one slider representing wind direction and have the angle of incidence set as a parameter for each one so that they all change together.

To elaborate on the logic of this algorithm, thank you
