algorithmic modeling for Rhino

Is there a way to bake or make geometry using GH, that forms X-Ref data? Reducing repetition of identical bits of geometry in the output 3dm file? I imagine that planes could be produced instead of objects and then this list of these co ordinate systems could be used in the X-Ref process??

Has this process been developed? If not does anyone know how to package the data required to do this?

The ultimate goal is to supply iRhino with a smaller file. A more pertinent question thus; could be: does iRhino use an X-ref system?

I know almost nothing about iRhino, you might want to ask on their forums. Rhino for Windows supports Blocks, but Grasshopper doesn't. However, it would be do-able to output some sort of simple geometry from Grasshopper and then put an instance of some block onto each one using RhinoScript.

I hope someone might have sussed this out already. But if not I might be able to encourage it by asking: 'how might I be able to view how blocks are distributed in Rhino?'

No idea about iRhino. But if you'd like to place block instances using Grasshopper, you might want to take a look at HDT Utilities: You can define the block in Rhino and then use grasshopper to place the instances. There's a definition that does exactly that in the example files.
