Grasshopper

algorithmic modeling for Rhino

hi again everyone

I am trying to connect two points (let's say p1 and p2) on separate curves (C1 and C2) via connecting p2 from C2 onto p1. what i mean is, i don't want to connect them and create a third point, i want to actually move p2 onto the existing P1. is there a component for this? I tried using RemoveDuplicateLines in Karamba, but its not giving me the result i need.

thanks always

um, just in case my explanation is very confusing.. here is the def.

Do you want to move C1 to intersect C2 at p1 and p2? Or do you want to just move p1 and have the rest of C1 deform?

Is C1 and C2 curves, polylines or lines?

I want to move p2 and C2 will deform as a consequence of connecting to P1.

and C1 and C2 are catenary curves created with the catenary component

And it still should remain catenary after point transition ? If so - use kangaroo, or manage with this one :

I don't care if it remains catenary, that's why i haven't used kangaroo. also, i've tried to use the function you sent (catenary function) earlier when working with catenaries, but i don't know how i can use it in grasshopper. anyway... i can create new curves manually which will fit (not exactly) the form I was hoping to achieve anyway. so I think i will do that... although the shape is not exact (not true form) and is made by fiddling with sliders. I was hoping there would be a component or a method.. but i guess it's something i will have to find for myself!

thank you though, regardless!

here is one definition that creates "transition curve".

It actually doesnt connect two exact points, but there is only one point that is on C1 and c2 (here yellow). Otherwise, you got the workflow now.

Its all about equation (cos(x) + 1 )/2 - does anybody knows more equations producing such smooth transitions ?
