algorithmic modeling for Rhino

How do you keep, edit, render, etc surfaces in rhino once you close grasshopper?

I made a surface in rhino, adjusted it a bit and then made a polygons extrude from a grid applied onto the curved surface in grasshopper. When it was all said and done i clicked on the shapes created from the extruded polygons in grasshopper and clicked bake and they appeared as real objects in rhino...

however, the same cannot be said for the original surface I made. I can't seem to click on it in rhino and when i close grasshopper the surface disappears. I try to bake it too but it doesn't do anything. How do I get this surface back in use in rhino after using grasshopper?

To keep grasshopper realtime, the objects in grasshopper do not exist in Rhino normally. If you select the final components that draw the object. Then hit the bake command (the egg icon). This will bake the objects into Rhino.
Did you maybe hide the original surface you used as a parameter in GH? Because this would cause what you described. Maybe a stupid question but I don't quite understand because I have never seen GH cause problems to a Rhino surface. Can you add a picture or better illustration?

I added a couple of screenshots though i dont know how much they really say.... basically, the surface is visible but I can't select it... I'm not sure what I did exactly but when i click on the srf button/icon in grasshopper that i assigned it to, it highlights the surface... I click bake and then try to click on it but nothing happens. It's like it's frozen or something. Any thoughts?
Sorry I some how didn't see the attachments. Its very strange since I have never seen a problem like this before nor anyone complaining about a similar problem.

Hopefully David or someone more knowledgeable will see the post and be able to give you an answer.

I've opened your file and had a look.

I can select your surface without any problems and it looks as if you baked it about five times.
As an experiment see if you can use the SelSrf command to select them. You other geometry are poly-surfaces so the original plus 5 will be the only things selected.

NB: when using the mouse I had to be very specific and either select one of the isoparms or the edge having zoomed in.

I downloaded it, I got the same as Danny mentioned, there are 6 copies of the surface, so was Baked 5 times I guess, but no problem selecting it or moving it etc.
