Grasshopper

algorithmic modeling for Rhino

Hello,

Here is an example of the idea

Using a closed surface, i would like to create a higher density of points toward the boundary and the more distant the less points.

I tried populating a radial surface but results arent homogenic as the surface is divided in  parts

I also tried culling with distance attractor point but it doesnt work either.

Does someone can help me with a solution or an idea?

Thank you

Hello,

I did something using SPM plugin, creating an attraction of points towards center. But i still can't get that effect of points massing outside a surface. Does anyone my have an idea?

Hello,

you can use meshmachine. You have to make a surface with your contour and a far bigger contour (a disk for example). After that you put option to meshmachine to adapt meshing depending on boundary distance.

Sounds good! Thank u

The reliability is not very google, play with distances, toggle for reset ...

Here is a simpliest definition, it is easy to obtain what you want but quite random distribution. Done on GH 1.0004 (Rhino WIP) but work on GH for Rhino5

The definition  is simple, populate a surface with a border that is your curve

Measure distance from random point  to the curve

Remap value between 0 and 1, pass them through a graph mapper to change distribution

Generate random number

Compare random numbers and distances and choose to keep or not the points
