Grasshopper

algorithmic modeling for Rhino

hi,

i want to wrap a voronoi-pattern around a surface.
Unfortunately i do not succeed what i want.

1. the curves are projected incorrectly. alot of unfilled area.

2. which would be very attractive, when the curves meet at the seam.

My plan is very well illustrate with the construct ticket01 plugin for maya.

maybe someone can help me.

many thanks

Hi RWNB, copy the points from which you are generating the voronoi to the other side of the seam to generate a tilable voronoi.
Looks like all the curves are there, change the display mode to ghosted for instance.

dear pieter,

thanks for the reply.
with the RenderMode i've led me astray. (:

the idea: mirror the pts ist good, but dosen't work.
i'm probably do something wrong?

and why the curves are projected incorrectly.
some curves are very close to each other
do you have an idea?

thanks

Don't mirror them, repeat them:

ok, i understand.

thank you.

Good:)
Btw have you seen my profile page 's background image? Tilable both directions: repeat the rectangle 2x2 and get a new rectangle somewhere around their crossing.

1. the unfilled area is just an illusion. Rhino rendered transparency and GH display do not play well together. Where you see the curves missing, they are just inside the cylinder.

2. having the curves wrap seamlessly is a little complex. I've modified your definition with some notes on how to accomplish this.

dear andrew,

thanks also for the reply.
when i try to open your gh def, i get an error message.
currently i work with rhino 4 SR8 and grasshopper 0.8.0050.
your def is created with rhino 5?

thanks
Yes, I'm using rhino 5 - but the definition opens fine on grasshopper running inside rhino 4. Can you post what the error is?

And if for some reason it simply won't work, here's an image of the definition:

dear andrew,

thank you very much.

your def. is promising.

many thanks again.

hi,

i'll be very grateful if you can tell me,
how i can improve this definition.

as you can see, the offset function is not good.
the offset curves are not created equally.
you have an idea how i could do this better?

i thought that it would make sense when

i offset the voronoi-cells/outlines, similar like:

many thanks
