Grasshopper

algorithmic modeling for Rhino

Hello,

I have been trying to set up a definition that would spread lines apart (flow around a point). I was successful using a single attractor point, but now I would like to add multiple points to this set up. All help will be appreciated.

Thank you,

Konrad

Ps. Please have a look at attached definition for reference.

Micheal,

I havent tried this, but it seems like it will have the same problem that I had when i was working on the original function that I posted. If the point is not located exactly in the middle between two lines flowing around it it will create an uneven flow. I can see that happening on yours just by looking at the image. Have you ever thought about this?

Konrad

Well, this is natural I think. I mean if your Point is closer to one curve vs the curve next to it it makes sense that one would get pushed unevenly further than the other creating asymmetry.

Thank you Mario and Micheal. I will have a look at both methods and I am sure to be able to figure it out.

Sure thing, This was an early definition of mine and I am currently planning to improve it.

One more thing. Replace members component gets an error. The reason is that some of the inputs from Closest Point and Cull Pattern come out as <null>. That throws off the Replace Members component. If i use Clean Tree on all the inputs for the Replace Members then it works, however the results are weird. All i am getting is all the points that I had at the beginning and it all adds up to a grid. Weird. Any idea as to what is wrong?

Thank you so much for all the help. It's quite an interesting approach.

I'm not sure really. I use this definition many times and have no errors. What grasshopper version are you using. Also do you have kangaroo installed I believe I am using a kangaroo component in it. Can you put a screen shot of what the def looks like when you open it and the results in shows.

I tried it at work on GH 0.9.0014 and I have the latest Kangaroo so I should be good. I will have another look at it over the weekend and I will keep you updated. This proves to be an interesting investigation.

thanks for all the help!

wow. This looks closer to exactly what I was looking for. I downloaded your definition, but for some reason GH resets all of your booleans. This sux. I am not getting what you are showing here on the picture. Would you be able to add a boolean component to all components that use it? This way i will be able to examine your definition.
