Grasshopper

algorithmic modeling for Rhino

Hello,

I am trying to make a curve tangent to 2 lines. I am new to grasshopper, been using for about 2-3 weeks. In my included files I have a polyline and 3 curves that I can choose from menu. I then revolve the 2d curves to create 3d solid. My problem is that the 3 curves reference curves in my rhino file. I would like to have the curves created in Grasshopper so I can use the definition in existing or new Rhino without referencing curves.

I have gone through the forms and found a few definitions, but they seem overly complicated for what I need. I have included lines from center of top dome section to use as reference for tangent curve(s).

Thanks in advance … Randy

I guessed that you were using a quarter ellipse for the dome curve.  The mesh component is just for a better appearance in Grasshopper (ie. not necessary for baking in Rhino).

Hello Chris,

Thank You, I have to study this a bit. So you split the ellipse using the centre of the top tube as a reference. It is getting my head away from Rhino workflow. I was trying to make a tangent curve instead of thinking to use a quarter of an ellipse. You also broke down the polyline into points and move the points with number sliders, to move with x,y,z … great.

How do you do the titles for the groups?

Thanks again … lots to learn,

Randy

Group titles>Right click on the group and type in the text on the first line of the context menu.

Thank you again, sometimes the simple and obvious things elude us. The definition really helps me understand Grasshopper a bit better.
