Just confirmed VVVV does support ASIO with their new patch. I think VVVV would be my prefered audio analysis for now... it has over 15 components ( called nodes in vvvv) dedicated for audio analysis. But I am very curious how firefly sees its direction with regard to audio analysis... best wishes.

hello everyone, mr Payne, I know jason Johnson from when he teached at UVA. just wanted to mention right away. a-ngine, (i assume you are from germany and like electronic music because of the triangle) I left you a comment on the last one you posted on this series...about the latency. I should do a post trying to compare firefly, vvvv and processing (maybe max/msp as well) in terms of their live audio analysis... for me the question is... Does firefly support asio drivers? ASIO is the prefered driver for any profession music production, as far as I know.

Thanks for your comments. Andy, indeed so far I only used the frequency spectrum tool streaming from the (shitty) built-in laptop microphone. A comment of yours on the forum triggered my attention saying that you intend to further develop the audio analysis section in ff. For the time being can you give me some advice for outsourcing regarding speed / performance?

You're website mentions you were curious about Firefly's audio capabilities... were you able to generate these mappings with Firefly's frequency spectrum tool?  Or did you have to result to using processing/vvvv?  Just curious.  The mapping is very well done.

wow that's cool! Does your project have a title? Soundscape's seems appropriate. It would truly be a cool project to create a rendered landscape (like the typical windows background or whichever photorealistic image) that move's with the beat of a song.
