algorithmic modeling for Rhino

Hi there,

I have a non planar surface and I would like to make a region difference in order to obtain a surface grid.

This is very easy with planar surfaces, but what happen with non planar surfaces?

as you can see in the image, I Obtained the edges, but I am missing the final step for  the surface.

I don't think the region difference component is doing anything really. You are just extracting the surface edges.

One way to solve your problem is to unroll your cylindrical surface, by for example, creating a planar rectangle that has the same domain size as your cylinder, place the openings as flat rectangles over it and use the planarsrf component to generate a trimmed surface, then use the copytrim component to copy the trim into your cylindrical surface.

Another option is to use the surface split component directly on the 3d curves and curved surface.

yes, with region difference I only extract the edge component, then I need to make a planarsrf.

split component is very nice, but quite long.

I will try your unrolling solution.
