algorithmic modeling for Rhino

is it anyway Rhino could be able to render just lines?

every time I render lines are actually "pipes" in an extremely small radius, which cause my computer very slow, almost dead.

if Rhino could not render just lines, or polylines, is there any better way to render those "line drawings?"

hi jim
it depends on your renderer....one thing that helps to increase the performance is to convert the pipe to meshes because they are much lighter
another way it depends on your render engine is to use that plugin http://wiki.mcneel.com/labs/curvepiping
A second way is to use Technical drawing pluging. Thats without render metodh, only simple print.

Second that... If you print JPG files from a rendered viewport you can control if curves are shown, or surface edges, or isocurves, etc. and their colors.

The result is kind of a "sketchy" look, but it can get you pretty far.
Also, Make2D works a treat at times...or printing to PDF...
from menu, file->export to .ai! works like a charm and it doesn't slow down your pc in any way.
I've had problems w/ illustrator bogging down using this method when there are a lot of curves--seems to break up into many segments rather than keeping single beziers

Rebuild your lines to get the number of points on the curves down before going to AI, you can also separate things on layers and export one part at the time. also make 2D doesn't work on meshes, so make sure you convert them to poly surfaces before.

I believe in the help under export to AI it describes the specifics of exporting to AI, such as curves must be in degree 3 or >3. At degree 2 it's not as accurate

What you can do is create a TOON material with 100% transparency (that's what I do when I don't have time to export diagrams to .ai).

Do the material 100% transparent material, and then Create a new one. Instead of choosing "standard" choose "toon" and the material created before as a base material. You can change the thickness of the line in there.
