Grasshopper

algorithmic modeling for Rhino

I have updated the Buzz acoustic raytracing plugin with easier to use sources and other improvements. This project is still under development, but please let me know how it works and what features would be useful.

Philip,  I am interested in using this to simulate multiple acoustic surfaces with different absorption capabilities.  I want to then effect the length of the ray based on absorption.  I noticed in the previous versions there was some capability related to this, any thoughts on how I might accomplish this with the current tool?

Erik,

I think you may be thinking of Acoustic Shoot, another component that does something similar, and has more functionality in terms of absorption. See if that works for you.

If you are really trying to simulate sound, the length of the ray and the absorption are not related. Amplitude is affected by absorption and time, but the length is only affected by time.  Of course, I can imagine some reasons to make length respond to absorption, and this would not be too hard to do.

These components are written in C#, if you know how to code, I can give you the source and point you in the right direction. I probably don't have too much time to devote to adding absorption to the components right now, but it is on my to do list.

Please let me know what I can do to help.

Hi Phillip,

Are you still thinking you want share source for buzz?  I am also interested in added surface reflectivity/absorption as a variable and could add that in c#.

Yes, please email me at philrob22@gmail.com. I have made some progress since version 0.2, but not absorption, it would be great to have some help on this, since I don't have too much time to work on it.
