algorithmic modeling for Rhino

Telling a story through ventilation panels can be tricky.
Although all the panels show a different pattern, we needed a constant opening ratio of 40% for optimum ventilation as well as a limited amount of radii for the circular openings to keep the tooling price down. GH and Galapagos came very handy.
Thanks to everyone on the forum :)

Hey nice work man...

Thanks Guy, we had a great time !
Having used the definition several time I noticed that Galapagos finds the fittest solution really fast and I can just stop it after couple seconds. It is faster and more accurate than looking for each value with the slider but Galapagos is probably at its best when plugin in many sliders...
Vincente thanks a lot I ll try it on monday !

very nice Arthur!
Ruth showed me the pictures from the workshop in Tel Aviv.
looks like you had a good time there...

The definition should work with different radii. It places the blocks in the center of each circle you referenced and scales them depending on the radius of the circles.

They haven't introduced hatching in rhinocommon yet, but hopefully when they do it will be simpler than in the old SDK. You can also use rhinoapp.runscript() to run the hatch command in individual curves (something like select one curve, run hatch, selnone, selnext curve, run atch, repeat). This will be faster than selecting all curves and running the command in rhino since it won't be checking for interior loops.

Hi Vincente,
Thanks a lot for it !
I tried to use your script when having a larger density but wasn't sure how to apply it to this particular definition having different radii... I was also trying to hatch in GH but sounds difficult : http://www.grasshopper3d.com/forum/topics/hatch-in-vb-net

Did you end up using the definition i posted in the rhino newsgroup for the hatches?

You're right Luis, just thought that if i don't mention the name of my company It could be a problem but the definition would not exist without everyone's help here so i changed it ;)

Yes, just that there are hundreds of digital and built examples of this, so not sure how useful the copyright will be.

Reminds me of the conversation we had:

Copyrights are tricky when it comes to computers and architecture...

Hi Luis, Good question... The use of this particular image to make ventilation panels because we will use it so it d be a shame to see the same building with it ;)
