Creating boxes from a 3d curvilinear surface to make from 2d forms

Hello,

I have managed to create a complex 3d form using Grasshopper and Kangaroo and I am now trying to extrude them so that I can recreate the form from blocks. Previously I have done this by thickening the mesh to create a solid and then exploding it to produce a series of smaller boxes which can then be unrolled. However when I have done this same function on my form created in Grasshopper it only returns a single faces which I cannot put together to make boxes.
