Grasshopper

algorithmic modeling for Rhino

Hi all,

New here - just wanted to see if anyone had any idea about what I might be doing wrong here:

  1. I've made mesh boxes at points that were generated at random using populate 2D.

  2. Using the Kangaroo solver and Unary Force I applied at all the points on the box, yet when I press the button, only the points and not the actual boxes move.

What I want is for the boxes to fall to a plane, maybe bounce (only a little) on it and between each other.

Does anyone have an idea what I'm doing wrong?

Picture attached (don't mind the disabling)

Many thanks!

Hey,

- Instead of a brep, you should use a mesh for the geometry input. (use mesh brep or build a mesh in rhino). This will make your object visible.

- In the kangaroo settings put a floor, set a restitution ( and other settings) that is bounces nicely.

- To get the bounciness between in the object you need a spring, in a 3D object this can be tricky.  The kangaroo objects: springs from line, springs from mesh or inflating the mesh slightly ( Pressure ) could do the trick.

Notion: Flatten the forces when you use more then one.
