Grasshopper

algorithmic modeling for Rhino

As it is now GH essentially does not handle lists of lists. Try panelizing two surfaces at once with the same script with flip matrix included anywhere. And if shift paths is used anywhere try switching that back to one surface with the same script. Both cause complete failure and the solution I assume everyone uses is simply to copy and paste (clusters, possibly). I see these failures as a glaring hole in GH's functionality but I think the solutions are simple and would make GH much more effective:

1) Flip Matrix should know to work with only the last branch level, no matter how deep the tree (I understand this can be solved with path mapper but that approach is not adaptable / scalable because it is explicit, not parametric)

2) Shift Paths should simply flatten when given only one branch level, it should not fail. This, for example, allows the switch from two panelized surfaces to one. As it is now it fails with this action and requires switching any Shift Paths components out with a flattener.

I hope these thoughts are helpful and not off the mark.

I also made these comments in reply to an old post here
