algorithmic modeling for Rhino

Hi guys,

What is the physical meaning of the elastic energy (KN.m) which is a result of the Analyze ThI component ?

Does it means the energy of deformation ? Meaning that as much as this number is small as much as the deformation of the model is small ?

Thanks ..

Hi ibrahim,

elastic energy is the energy stored in the deformed system. It is equal to the area under the force deflection diagram. In case of a linear elastic system this amounts to 0.5*F*u, where F is the force and u the displacement in the direction of the force in the deformed system.

When comparing two structural systems with the same loads a smaller elastic energy is equivalent to a stiffer structure.

Best,

Clemens
