algorithmic modeling for Rhino

Unbenannt.jpg

Hello everybody,

Can anyone help me with this? I managed to create closed quad polylines over a surface by using the diagonal grid script made by http://www.livearchitecture.net .

Now I would like to give these lines a certain thickness/ a certain cross-section. I already tried a lot, but nothing is working...

I would be indescribably happy to hear from you!

Best regards

Sounds like a job for "offset crv on surface" for me. Just the component requires so much calculation that I'm afraid it'll be unusable in this case as you have so many curves.

I tried to recreate your scenario at hand of a torus in GH on which I applied intersections similar to yours. Beware, the attached definition takes quite some time to load. I would thus deem it as not terribly worthwhile, but perhaps it can help spark new ideas to solve this? Also, for some reason it calculated quicker when I used two separate "offset on surface" components than when using only one given two distances.

thanks so much!

unfortunately, i´m not able to open the definition... could you make a screenshot of it and post it here? thanks a lot!

This is it. The majority of it is just setting up the torus though. "Offset crv on surface" is what you need. The command works well for one curve perhaps, but for several curves it's unapplicable.

I think instead you will need to create a robust logic creating your source curves, and then perhaps moving their points on desired directions through which then to interpolate your curves, so as to emulate an offset.
