Grasshopper

algorithmic modeling for Rhino

Hi, i'm a grasshopper user,I'm quite new and novice heheh...does anyone know why 'split with multiple breps' component gives me 3 insted of 4 segments in a pair of curves of the complete bunch?

I have changed this part of the definition several times, changing the way the brep is constructed (one brep instead of 4 untrimmed surfaces, changing the way the brep's points are connected [making one brep]) and it's very curious because if I pick this specific pair of curves and make the splitting action separately, the component's output gives me 4 splitted segments, which is correct. Furthermore, when I split the complete bunch of curves, the component gives me 4 points on every curve, which is correct too.

This is very frustrating, does anyone faced with this before? Maybe it's a bug...

I think its a rhino tolerance issue just extend the cutting planes past the surface boundary, this happens sometimes also in rhino when trimming or splitting ect where it will fail unless your a little bit past.

First of all, thanks for replying Michael.

When I saw your answer, I thought you were completely right Michael, and I see this problem cannot be a bug in this component, because it works so fine in your computer. But sadly, I've checked my definition extending my profile curves as yours and the problem remained.

Indeed, I reduced the number of surface's uv curves, because maybe this problem was due to high number of curves and their complexity, but the problem remained again.

And finally, I got good results (4 splitted segments and 4 points on each curve) when I rotated breps/surfaces (attachment two), but this doesn't work for my final modelling intentions.

AAAAAAAGGGG I hate this kind of things. I don't know what to do. I'll keep on trying, I hope this isn't a bug.

attach your rhino and gh files, will make it easier to help with your exact problem.

I set one surface on GH, and then I generated some uv curves on this surface oriented to a point located on top of the surface (principal vertex). Then I splitted contour curves list into two different lists, one list without the last curve (bigger one, the edge curve) and other list without the first curve (smaller one). Then comes what you already know, generation of surfaces to split with contour curves.

This morning I got my definition right luckily, 4 splitted segments and 4 points on each curve, just by rebuilding contour curves with rebuild component, and moving the original position of them along principal surface until I saw I had 4 splitted segments. I don't know why 'split with multiple breps' component works good with this changed situation and doesn't make the same with previous one. It has to be tolerance issue as you rightly said before.

Thanks for replying Michael.

Hello,

Also me got this problem few days ago, the same situation and same project, do you know how to solove this problem now?

Waitting for your reply, thanks!
