Grasshopper

algorithmic modeling for Rhino

Good evening, please tell me how to build a 2D layout of 3D object (polyhedra)?

Short question, big answer needs. Try to learn the basics first you must. The first step what do you think that could be? Hard the path to the force is...;)

Yoda advice: To build the polyhedra, Lunchbox plugin could help you ;) If no experience the padawan has, a complex task to develop the polyhedra will be.

May the force be with you.

P.D.: Serious, you need to learn the basics to understand what and how do you want to this. I teach Grasshopper and to reach the point you want to, I need two sessions (6hr each) or more...

Thank you, but often do not force us :(

polyhedra -> Search Results in Discussion (5) :(?!

we are talking here rather about blobs than polyhedras ;)

interesting "drop." :)

polyhedra and their sweep I found here

;) This is for building the polyhedra...then you need to find the plane of every face and transform every face from that plane to other plane. The problem is keep faces connected when moving...

thanks for the link to the resource Nathan Miller http://theprovingground.wikidot.com/nathanmiller

Hi Alex,

there is another very powerful thing called mantis:

http://www.grasshopper3d.com/profiles/blogs/mantis-grasshoppermathe...

It also allows you to access any polyhedron data and will even provide an unfold built in. The other side of the coin is the data itself is not built in, since its only a connection to Mathematica, so you would need this  to run on your machine as well.

So it sounds like for right now you are probably better off with LunchBox, but just to let you know, there is something behind the big blob as well.

Or better:  Try not. Do, or do not. There is no try.

Hi Phillip, thanks for the link to mathematica, interesting to know how you can create a sweep of the 3D body:)
