Grasshopper

algorithmic modeling for Rhino

I'm doing research for an early decision support tool for designing zero-energy dwellings, and would like to do some experiments with some not-grasshopper users by just using a couple of parameter sliders, and some controllable GH geometry in the rhino interface.

Therefore, I was interested in a possibility to click on GH surfaces in the rhino interface, so that you can see metadata linked to that surface in a sort of tab opening for example.

With the geometry pipeline component I think we're getting closer to a more user-friendly grasshopper 'interoperability' for non-GH-users, if you can call it like that. So I was wondering if there are some future plans to integrate this, and maybe for now, a trick so I can embed this in my experiment.

(PS: I was also eager to see the Chrysalis Grasshopper + Processing take-off, so any interesting stuff in this direction is welcome)

Thanks and best regards!

Vincent,

I'm working on a similar process and have been able to use the "is geometry selected" firefly component to send GUID for selected geometry to populate a floating menu with attributes for alteration; however, unlike the newer pipeline component the timer component must be activated.

Another promising method is accessing Rhino Common with Python:

see the dynamic draw function example...
