Grasshopper

algorithmic modeling for Rhino

Hello GH users,

I am working with the Geometry Gym Mesh Inflation function and would like to restrain the inflation so it will not inflate past a reference surface. I was motivated by Wieland Schmidt’s work on the Geometry Gym Blog and would like to create something similar.

Any ideas out there?

Hi Sosa,

Someone requested this quite some time ago (it might have been Wieland, but I think not).  I went to check the component, I had it in "hidden" status for some reason.  Try the attached model, if it doesn't work, download todays build (http://www.geometrygym.com/downloads )  as i adjusted the default inputs. Does this help achieve the form you want?

Cheers,

Jon

Jon,

Thanks so much for the reply. I found a way to get what I was looking for out of the target height input (the grouped items).

Could you explain how the restraint geometry input works? I was hoping to just plug in a surface and have my mesh inflate to the surface.

I am enjoying working with your plug in. Thanks for sharing this with the community.

Sosa

Great, you can restrain the mesh at internal points, by default only the naked (perimeter) vertex are restrained.  If you follow this discussion and example models, it should help understand this better: http://www.grasshopper3d.com/group/geometrygym/forum/topics/inflation

Keep sending through questions and suggestions.

This is really helpful Jon. Thanks so much!
