algorithmic modeling for Rhino

hi im trying to take an image apply a random point grid to it then depending on the brightness of the image under each point control the radius of a polygon placed on that point. is this the right tool to be using or am i barking up the wrong tree???!

even if anyone could point me in the direction of a good tutorial on using the image sampler for this sort of thing i would be most grateful

I just spent the last 2 days doing this to create a pattern for perforating sheet material. If you can wait a little longer I'm cleaning the definition to publish on the forum.

sounds perfect would love to see how you went about it. i have got a vague solution but its not very clean
Here you go...If you want to make the grid random I would use a list item and a jitter to just pick out points from the ordered grid, but the image will suffer when you do this because your basically removing pixels
