algorithmic modeling for Rhino

hello everybody,

I am doing my thesis on arts center, and have developed the museum on the principles of rheotomic surfaces...

I am facing problem in fabricating the physical model of this surface using the ribs technique...

kindly help me out...

I am attaching the sheet for the form development and the rhino file of the surface.

Thanks in advance.

first, it have to be solid, surface have no thickness. It could be printed in 3d  ( for example: i.materialise.com ) or cnc machined in pieces then assembled. what kind of material?

yarek,

Mr. Sakowicz,

Thank you for you reply.

But the problem is, I do not have the facility of a 3d printer or a cnc machine.

The whole structure is a concrete mass( fairly high strength).

If you could help in under standing the basic rib fabrication process for this surface, that will be really nice of you.

I have been practicing fabrication of double curved surfaces using the rib technique and the string technique. I am attaching two of my projects.

Hope to hear from you soon.

Shaique.

Hi Mohammad, if I understand you correctly ("ribs technique") I think that you'll find a lot of info if you search the forum for 'waffle'.
And please show us the result when you succeed in making this! :)
you can try this definition see if it helps. it will generate the ribs, add notches and lay them out for laser cutting. also will give you 3D ribs if you want to print.

Hello Mr. Robert,

Thank you very much for your support.

I tried the gh file but there is some surface evaluation problem occuring in the definition which I am not able to sort out.

I am attaching the rhino file alongwith this mail.

Kindly look into it to see if you can figure it out.

Thank you.

you have multiple surfaces. after bringing it in as a brep add a berp explode which will break it down to surfaces, then graft and simplify the F output and plug that in to the definition.

Mr. Robert,
Thank you very much.
It worked, I am really grateful to you.

Thank you once again.

Shaique.

What do the four point parameters represent in your sample file?

Thanks.

Chris

the contour script takes two points to define a direction for the rib cuts.the ribs are cut in two directions so 4 points. move the points to control the direction of the ribs

Hi Robert, I am currently trying to get the waffle rib with my Rhino surface but its not generating the ribs any ideas why? I have also try extruding the surface in rhino.

I have attached a print screen of how it looks.

Thanks.
