Grasshopper

algorithmic modeling for Rhino

Hi! I've been trying to figure out the best way to create new geometry on GH based on music analysis. I've read about importing Text files as Scripting components in order to create different deformations on a specific object you've previously created.

Nevertheless, I would like to know if there's a better way to manipulate this information from the Text File (which I exported from Spectrum Lab, an audio analyzer) in order to have better linked results to the sound that's supposedly deforming/interacting with my geometry.

I'm also willing to change my methodology if anyone knows how to get more creative results by connecting a keyboard directly into GH or by modifying the exported parameters from the Spectrum Lab, in order to acquire more useful information other than decibels or frequencies.

Thank you!

Hey Emilio,

Have you made any progress with this? I'm interested in doing something similar to this.

I just started working on this too.

For now I've just been reading on the DirectSound API, to see whether that is a viable direction.

What is the data output from Spectrum Lab?

Will you be trying to detect individual instrument tracks prior to sending data to GH?
