Grasshopper

algorithmic modeling for Rhino

Looking for a person with 16GB+ RAM computer to help me clean up my files.

Problem solved: there is a memory leak bug within the recent file/MRU list for some reason big files with a loads of branches and items makes MRU list leak memory temporary fix is setting Show recent flies to 0. I have been combating this problem for the past month and only now pinpointed it!

Oh lord and savior David BANISH THIS FOUL DEMON!

p.s. this could have single handily made me fail my semester in the long run, what a relief.

Looking for a person with 16GB+ RAM computer to help me clean up my files. After saving them I can't open them anymore I run out of ram... :/ I just need the internalised Int(integer component) and delete everything else. Open it with DISABLED SOLVER!!! or it will calculate for 17h +

will upload more files, as soon as I can.

Or even better make that Int component into user object and upload that file!

Bump anyone please? it would literally take a few minutes, I can't make any progress.

Thank you, hopefully I can find who can do the rest! Or if you find free time im not in super rush.

How in the world did you create a 61 MByte GH file?!  I'm trying to open the first one but it pretty much froze up my machine.  Hoping it doesn't crash completely.  Wish I hadn't bothered...

have you disabled the solver? it should take no more than 10 minutes to open. Well it just has a few thousand of branches with few thousand items per branch.

Of course I disabled the solver before opening the file.  My machine was nearly impossible to use for more than an hour until finally, with great effort and patience, I managed to kill the process and reboot the machine,  It wasn't easy.  And I won't try that again!

Clear up your MRU/recent file list if problem persist sorry for the inconvenience!

I still believe there is some sort of weird bug here because now after cleaning one file up, I can barely open it and when I convert that component into user object all of a sudden I am not using as much ram anymore. Or maybe this is intended and when you have user component its actually not part of a file anymore and doesn't use ram?

edit: And now I can shove two different int components into one file and its still using only 1.4GB ram only. This seems to be the way to save ram on big internalised components by converting them into user objects

Something is just leaking memory it seems, I used to have this problem where even if the file is not open but it's in opening screen in those green bubbles it would leak memory. I just had to delete grasshopper and reinstall it every time because I've seen this problem before in forums but no one ever came up with a fix.

Edit:Another weird leak is when I close rhino and grasshopper now even that I had stable low memory usage before closing. Process Rhino.exe is till running and climbing in memory and reached 97% even the program is shut down.

Edit2: My gut feeling is that when a component reaches certain branch/item number it starts leaking memory. And specifically recent file/ MRU list is doing the leak
