Excellent render. The actual building is also impressive. I've been inside and know there's plenty of entertainment there (besides offices). There's even a casino. I will clean the algorithm and post it here. Its based on the angle between normals and solar vector. The result is remapped so it can move the points between mid edge and centers,similar to your definition. I also simulated the real mechanism but i used the simplified algorithm for this model.
