Grasshopper

algorithmic modeling for Rhino

Hi,

I am doing electrical pannels. A customer want a bunch of holes in a ploygon (let say a letter). Since Rhino dosen't have a filling command (has only hatch - which it is no good for me) I post my question in Rhino web group. A guy from Rhino group make me a grasshopper file. Everything is working properly but I need to have a possbility to fill that polygon:

- with a user selectable polygon;

- insert a distance between polygon which need to be filled;

- insert a distance between filling polygons;

- eliminate the incomplete filling polygons.

I'll attach the receve it file

Thank you for your time.

Hi Evert,

Have a look at this and maybe that will help you to understand what I am after. BTW that Grasshopper definition was made it by you (thanks for that).

Thank you

Hi Gabi,

Have a look at the enclosed, it should work with your rhino file.One way to implement the SelOpenCrv command is to create surfaces from planar crvs, these will leave the open ones out and then, if you want the curve get the wireframe.

BTW  I've changed the hexagonal grid obsolete component for the new one, otherwise the def will hang out as the old component doesn't output trees.

I hope this helps

Thank you for that, but I how can I save that file? Click on that will take to a new page with grasshopper code.

Hi Gabi,

right click and choose "save target file as"  and then change the extension to "ghx"

cheers

Hi Evert,

I try your file, but beside offseting dosen't do anything else. No filliing...

Hi Gabi, Can you please hover over the yellow planar surface tooltip at the top right corner to see what it says?

also try to re-conect that the outer curve of the R to the component before the yellow and you can also try on rhino if you can create a planar surface from that curve.

alternatively post your rhino file!

Let me know how it goes

Still nothing... Here you go files...

Hi Gabi,

I found the problem, try this!

I've change the box components component with evaluate box component, the problem was the origin of the grid.

Hi Gabi, your latest message is too indented to reply to it. It has the same name but it's a new definition and it works on the Test.3dm file you posted.

BTW I'm running GH 8.0004 whcih versiona re you using?

Cheers

Evert

Same GH 8.0004 with Rhino V4.0 SR 8. I relly dont know what I am doing wrong if you said it is working on your side.

Any chance to have the posibity to apply a user selectable distance between circles. I need to have some space for milling cutter and still have that pannel one piece.

Cheers

Gabi
