Grasshopper

algorithmic modeling for Rhino

Hello everyone.  I'm working on a hill landscape inspired by Maya Lin's Wave Field.

What I intend to create though is a more random hilly landscape.

Here's my definition so far:

I'm able to somewhat control the attraction points if I use polygons (shown above) but when I try to apply it to just one plane surface I can't get any result.

I'm not sure why; is it because the points assigned on the surface can't be recognised to form that shape? Do I need to explode it?

Hello,

you can try the following. You need to download Nudibranch and Weaverbird.. Needs some testing with different values for the twirl component, and the location and twirling vectors direction.

Best,

M.

Thank you for your reply and definition. I was able to create good hills from them but they weren't extruded. How can I extrude them out so that they have different heights?

Not sure I follow. can you post an example or a screenshot.?

M.

I'll post up the definition. I managed to get a direction by adding a z-vector in the twirl command but it didn't really give me the wave that I wanted.

Hey Freeda,

try the following.. i am certain there are other ways of achieving this effect though.

Best,

M,

Thanks for the definition! I'll be experimenting with other plugins as well so thank you so much for all the help you gave me! :)
