How to obtain all the polygons of a mesh, flattened and labeled

Hey Everybody¡

I want to build a figure, a 3d model real made with paper or carton, i have a mesh file and i wanna know if there is some method for make it with grasshopper, automatically of course.

You can certainly extract all the faces of a mesh and arrange them on a grid, but if you want to keep adjacent faces together along shared edges, then that requires a very complicated algorithm. I'm pretty sure there's special software out there that can do those sorts of unfolding operations.

Might be worth checking out a program called Pepakura Designer which is designed to take 3d models and allow you to create paper models from them.  It looks relatively inexpensive.
