Boolean operation Differences between Grasshopper and Rhino ?

Hi, I tried some boolean commands(difference, intersect, or trim) through grasshopper and rhino(V5) and found that in some cases the results are different. Usually the results from grasshopper are…Continue

Millipede

Millipede is a structural analysis and optimization component for grasshopper. It allows for very fast linear elastic analysis of frame and shell elements in 3d, 2d plate elements for in plane forces, and 3d volumetric elements. All systems can be optimized using built in topology optimization methods and have their results extracted and visualized in a variety of ways.In addition millipede implements a few basic geometric features [extraction of iso surface meshes from volumetric scalar fields…See More

goat

goat is an optimization solver add-on component. It perfectly complements galapagos, David Rutten's evolutionary solver based on a randomized core. goat pursues a mathematical rigorous approach and relies on gradient-free optimization algorithms, delivering fast and deterministic results. At every run, goat will yield the same optimal result.goat is a drop-in replacement for galapagos. It is based on David Rutten's galapagos GUI and interfaces…See More

Firefly

Firefly offers a set of comprehensive software tools dedicated to bridging the gap between Grasshopper, (a free plug-in for Rhino) the Arduino microcontroller and other input/output devices. It allows near real-time data flow between the digital and physical worlds – enabling the possibility to explore virtual and physical prototypes with unprecedented fluidity.See More

Weaverbird - Topological Mesh Tools

Weaverbird is a topological modeler that contains many of the known subdivision and transformation operators, readily usable by designers. Instead of doing the work repeatedly, or sometimes using complicated scripts, this plug-in helps reconstructing shapes as meshes, subdivides and refines even polyline lists, and helps preparing the model for fabrication. Weaverbird is the first released addon for Grasshopper but the group is new, so please join it to participate in discussions, ask questions…See More

Thanks for the quick reply, I guess I'm still trying to figure out how to convert the mesh into area objects. When you have it as a mesh in rhino, do you save it as a dxf and them import it into SAP? Is there a special setting for the mesh to be recognized, I import the layer as a shell element? Basically each time I try, I get a blank screen, nothing manages to import.

Hi sangsu, i saw your posts and I'm very impressed. I wanted to ask you how you could transfer rhino surfaces to SAP2000? I am trying a similar process but cannot seem to get it.

Thanks

fred
