Grasshopper

algorithmic modeling for Rhino

hello fellow gh users,

my question is more of a workflow general question than a techniqal one.

i would like to create something similar to the works of Tomohiro Inaba

its looks like a trail has been followed with a density gradient. could this effect be achieved with maybe agents taking 30 to 90 degrees turns following a 3d polyhedral pattern polyline?

what are your suggestions to recreate this design technique ?

I don't know if Bertrand Lempereur is a member of this forum. He uses Houdini to do this type of stuff

im sure there is multiple possible workflows to do it in grasshopper

how come no one is interested to make such thing ? or is it just too hard to think of?

You are a bit funny I don't know if it is my lack of understanding english or english humor ?

Some funny answers could be :

* take some wires and weld them

* Pay someone to do the job.

* Begin to make an algorithm and try it.

Now I am a bit more serious. Yes it is interesting. There are some scripts not to far from your need. Search with wrap, walking on mesh, winding ... But here it is not on (surface) but in (volume). Here is my 2 cents with a script I have. It is on surface but it must not be to difficult to transform it on volume.

Seed a volume with point(s) (depending on desnity ?).

Make some trails with a logic, walk on a direction during XX mm, turn at XX°+/-YY° with a random roll, if outside volume turn 180° or close ...

haha i like that bunny and thanks for the answer.. i will google and look around for the terms your mentioned.

is it possible for you to post your definition please and ill start tweaking and changing it?

On a cow, just one trail. You could also test Culebra plugin

or see this

killing time waiting my train to London.

cant thank you enough ... well, im here in london, i would be happy to invite you for a pizza! no strings attached haha

Here is the script.

Play with it.

thank you!!! im already playing around with culebra, looks much better than other agent plugins i played around with before.

I don't know how I missed that, thanks for the culebra link!
