Grasshopper

algorithmic modeling for Rhino

Hi Grasshoppers,

maybe you have some ideas about this.

I am working on a definition to apply on a 4mm raster grid, different point patterns onto a flat surface. The points should have three dimensions, 1.5mm, 2.0mm and 2.5mm, which I defined by a simple VB script.

The next step should be to raster the image in 7 greyscale tones and apply 7 different point patterns on the generated 7 surfaces, based by the image tones. But here I stuck.

May be you have an idea, how to modify the image sampler output and/or to apply the patterns based on the image tones.

I´m still a basic rookie and maybe it´s too easy for you guys, but any help I would appreciate.

I'm a bit confused. Do you want to treat your image using only three greyscale levels, or seven? Right now your script is already creating circles with varying radii. Are you saying those circles are not actually needed?

Here's a way to divvy up the image into 7 levels, then draw a shape for each sample.

Hello David, thank you for your replay. I´ll check it out and respond as soon as possible.

Hi David, your definition looks great. Could you show me how to reference different points to the letters? The final result I´m trying to work on should work like this...

Hello David, thank you so much for your respond. I was trying the whole weekend, maybe it´s too basic..but how can I reference a shape to the item output? For example a circle for A and a rectangle for B? Thank you so much

Hi.

A bit heavy solution though. get this as well. Best.

Hi Hyungsoo, this looks awesome!!! Thank you. I need to understand how everything works. I´ll try with both and share the results. Great!

this is how the result should look like. 3 different circle sizes in various different patterns, applied on the image, rastered in 12 (for example) tones. But I didn´t get it that smooth with the definitions...is there a cull option, which could be referenced to the original image greyscales to erase the points based on the original image?
