Grasshopper

algorithmic modeling for Rhino

Hi,

I have a group of surfaces (first attached image) that i want to expand at the same time until they touch. The distance between the surfaces is not uniform so the edge offset will also be non-uniform. I need all the gaps between the surface to be filled but the end result should not have any overlapping surfaces (second attached image).

Any thoughts?

Cheers

I have roughly drawn the desired result below manually, the red surfaces are the original surface sizes and the black curves indicate the approximate target surface sizes. No overlaps are essential.

I found a way (very involved!) of doing it by hand which results in the attached. Is that what you're looking for?

Thanks for looking into this David - it is much appreciated

You seem to have gone through the exact process i am after but is it possible to do this via a grasshopper definition so it can be applied to different groups of base surfaces?

Probably not without a fair amount of custom scripting. There's no way to cleanly extrude polylines with a tapering angle. Maybe someone else can come up with a clever approach, but I'm out of ideas...

Thanks for your efforts anyway David. At least this has confirmed there's not an easy answer!
