Grasshopper

algorithmic modeling for Rhino

I just recently decided to switch to Kangaroo 2 to make some mesh folding solutions and so far I'm just super confused by the new solver.

So, I tried to open an example file posted to this forum earlier but got an error message (see the first image below.)

The solver that loaded in w/ the example file looks like the one on the left (see 2nd image below), but the only solvers that I can find in my Kangaroo 2 tab look like the three on the right in that picture.

I'm not sure what's going wrong - but I can't plug in points anywhere, and that definitely seems like a problem to me.

Can someone please help me?

Hi,

The error you get is because you do not have kangaroo1 installed, components that are missing is not from actual kangaroo1 solver but some helper components such as getting mesh naked vertices. So for now just have k1 and k2 installled they are different solvers but k1 is full of goodies.

The second part is why your components look different. The left is from k2 earlier release, but Daniel Piker later simplified them because we do not use all the inputs normally. But those two solvers are the same just because guid inside was the same, grasshopper shows old inputs. Zombie solver was added to calculate geometry instantly and bouncy one to remind the k1 solver. But you will mostly use the solver component only.

Then points. K2 does not have point inputs or anchors. It all works using goals, then you just add all goals to solver.
Do you have specific example in k1 you want test on k2?
