Grasshopper

algorithmic modeling for Rhino

Howdy, I'm making a wall installation based on the 3d voronoi component.  I made a couple of the cells out of paper and realized I want to do two things.

1) set a minimum edge length to 1 inch

2) set a maximum number of surfaces to 7

Attached is my GH definition

Thank you

I don't think voronoi is going to work the way you'd like it to, unless you have a ton of patience with trial and error and/or are willing to utilize repeating patterns. This just has to do with how the voronoi cells are solved - you move one point and it shifts the topology for all of its adjacent cells in unforseen ways. You might have better luck trying at something like the approach used in the water cube in Beijing. There they used a Weaire-Phelan structure, which generated highly regular geometry that when cut with a plane creates visual differentiation. Even with such an approach I think you're going to have a very hard time limiting your geometries to heptahedrons...you'll probably have to be willing to deal with many more sides.
