Grasshopper

algorithmic modeling for Rhino

Since many icons have been redesigned in 0.8.0012, it's probably a good idea to post the new vector source. I attached a Zip file with the original Xara vector graphics. The files were written with Xara Designer Pro 6, but Xara is pretty good at file compatibility so you can probably open them on many versions.

You are free to use and modify these vector graphics for any project, document or webpage that is associated with Grasshopper. You do not need to credit me, though it is not allowed to pass the work off as your own without modifications.

There are no fast and hard rules when it comes to the graphics style of Grasshopper icons, but I suggest you try and mimic line-weights, contrast, saturation and arrow and point symbols when designing your own icons.

Note that all icons must be 24x24 pixels and most icons in the original set leave a 2-pixel empty border around all edges. All icons with such an empty border have a drop-shadow with the following properties:

Blur = 2 pixels

Colour = black

Transparency = 65 out of 255 (roughly 25%)

Horizontal offset = 1 pixel to the right

Vertical offset = 1 pixel downwards

I apply drop-shadows as a post-process effect in a pixel-editor, as Xara is not good at pixel effects on very small images.

Nice, thanks David.

B.t.w. can't I just create an icon (20x20) without a drop shadow, and add that shadow by picking the icon variation "drop shadow - light drop"?

The Drop shadow filter won't grow the image, you could create a 24x24 image and then apply the filter. But I found that it pays to make icon retrieval as fast as possible.

Hi David Rutten
I have little problem with the file. I use software to extract WinXAR, then ask for password file. If you tell me please? thank you!

Has anyone converted the files to PDF, Ai, EPS, or other standar vector format? I'm trying (using some converters) but I only could extract some poor and low resolution raster images with no utility...

Thanks in advance.

sorry, I can't open the inner files!

Hi David,
Please export your vectoriel file in eps or Ai.

It's most populary.

Damn, y'all lazy!

Attached are some quick conversions to AI and SVG.

Thanks Kyle, it worked for me.

The archive is corrupt!

The .zip file is ok.
If you are using Internet Explorer, right clicking on the upper file, and choose "Save as", instead of just click on the file link.

Hi David,

Is it possible to have an update of these icons .

It will be very useful for my wikia.
