Grasshopper

algorithmic modeling for Rhino

I tried outdoor noise propagation with a source with a conceptual model of an area. I put 70 db for the source. The simulation on receivers on building facade on different levels comes out correctly I think.

The T-flip method is nice and comprehensive.

When I try to do the same with the Mapping Method, the map and values appear higher than the source SPL, at around 80 db at the higher value parts of the mesh.

Am I missing something? Are these not the same metrics? The IR summing is with "Intensity". When I select "Pressure", it does not produce a color map.

Thank you for your help.

Hi Arlind,

A bug was reported recently to that effect. I will correct it when I can. For the time being, source power will be right everywhere except for the mapping method. If you need this to work correctly, you can use my beta version, but please be aware that if you run the method with curves, you should turn off the image source method.

Hi Arthur,

Thank you for your reply. I am learning about Pachyderm and how to use it. It is really interesting since it can be used from a designer's perspective for outdoor and interior acoustics.

Ladybug Tools has some very good color mapping components for Grasshopper if it can be of help/reference to connect with Pachyderm in the future. It allows to switch between different schemes of colors, select the high and low bounds, and subdivision of values displayed.

Also, in the Pachyderm simulation with the Mapping Method, I had different surfaces for the building levels due to the shape of the building. The mapping along the edge of the adjacent surfaces was not continuous/same. It was a recognizable color difference along the edges, which may be part of the bug.

Best regards,

Arlind

Do you have a recent build (newer than version 2.0RC30 you've shared)?
In Rhino, A preview button in the particle animation does not work. In grasshopper, there is ID conflict between Mat_Airspace and Atmospheric_Properties.
